Lapiz Lazuli Pendant

This is a freeform, asymmetrical Lapis Lazuli pendant, a gemstone revered for centuries for its deep celestial colour and symbolic richness. Dominated by a rich, royal blue hue, typical of high-quality Lapis Lazuli. This stone also shows golden flecks, likely from inclusions of pyrite, which adds the shimmering, star-like quality.

The surface is highly polished, with natural marbling and visible crystalline patterns. Fine veins of calcite (white or light blue streaks) run through the stone, enhancing its depth and character.

Lapis Lazuli has been mined for over 6,000 years, especially from regions like Afghanistan, and was highly prized in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia.

This piece was shaped from a specimen brought back from Afghanistan.
